FAQ’s for Weddings and Private Events

What if the worst happens and I need to cancel?

Firstly don’t panic.  We understand that these things happen, and we try our best to be sympathetic to your situation.  The technical terms are as follows though (and again are written at the bottom of the booking forms)-

a)      Before 30 days of Event date- full refund

b)      Within 30 days of the Event date after confirmation deposit paid- 25% of full fee payable.

c)       Within 14 days of the Event date 50% of full fee payable.

d)      Within 48 hours of Event Date full 100% fee payable.

This is simply to recover any costs involved in the administration and securing of equipment and crew for your event.  We have NEVER had this happen to us yet…


How do you accept payment?

We will accept payment by cheque made to SVL Hire Limited, though we prefer payments to be made by bank transfer.  The details of our account will be on the forms sent out at time of booking confirmation.


Do you require a deposit?

Yes, upon confirmation of equipment we require 25% of the final fee as deposit to confirm your booking, along with a completed booking form.  There is no mad panic though, we are not photographers who are one person and when booked are gone.  We have a vast warehouse and a mile and a half of fairy lights!  We would always get back in touch to confirm bookings of they were dragging or looking to clash with another Event of ours.


What are your booking terms?

When you book with SVL hire Limited you are booking the equipment you require for your Event as well as our service.  Once you have confirmed the equipment with us we will send a booking form over to you.  Upon receipt of this booking form we ask that you complete all relevant information within the form and return to us with a deposit of 25% of the final fee.  Your booking is not confirmed with us until we have received the booking form and the deposit, though we will always endeavour to contact you before dismissing your details as a cancelled event.  The final amount is then due to be cleared with us 7 days before your event, knowing that all you have then to do is enjoy the day.


What is ‘Dry Hire’?

When discussing the ‘dry hire’ of equipment we mean that you, as the hirer, will collect and return the equipment hired at the arranged times.  We will instruct on how to use the equipment before you leave if necessary, but we are not responsible for the use of equipment on site nor its failure due to human error on installation.
